Preventive Dentistry

A preventive program is a cooperative effort by the patient and us, as your dental experts to preserve your natural teeth and prevent new dental disease conditions. Prevention includes 6 monthly follow-ups, Dental sealants, fluoride applications, and Preventive home care. Prevention helps avoid serious and costly dental problems and is the key to having a healthy, confident, beautiful smile.

Dental Sealants:

Dental sealant is a thin material coating painted on the chewing surfaces/ grooves of teeth, usually the back teeth (the premolars and molars. The sealant, forming a protective shield over the enamel and prevents a new cavity from forming. Sealants protect these vulnerable areas from tooth decay by "sealing out" plaque and food.

Fluoride application:

Fluoride is especially helpful if you’re at high risk of developing dental caries, or cavities. We provide professional fluoride treatments in the form of a highly concentrated rinse, foam, gel, or varnish depending on the need of the treatment. For children above 5 years, it is recommended to have fluoride treatments every 6 months till 12 years of age.

Home care:

We have a preventive program wherein we educate you regarding the best at-home oral hygiene procedures.

Your personal home care starts by eating balanced meals, reducing the number of snacks you eat and correctly using various dental aids that help control the plaque and bacteria that cause dental disease.

– Brush your teeth twice a day (especially before going to bed at night) with an IDA-approved soft bristle brush and toothpaste using the correct technique.

  • Use a pea-sized fluoridated IDA approved toothpaste

  • Brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.

  • Daily flossing is the best way to clean between the teeth and under the gumline.

Early intervention and prevention are the very keys to overall oral health and well-being!
